There will be coaches working within the field of youth sports, who will be interested in underpinning their delivery with evidence based nutritional support to enhance their team/individuals’ performance.

Coaches are often the source of nutritional advice for young athletes but are they best placed to offer this guidance? This evidence suggests that sports coach nutritional knowledge is suboptimal and as such there is a susceptibility for misinformation, at a period of vulnerability for adolescent athletes i.e., body image. At the elite level of youth sports, the presence of eating disorders is more commonplace than in the general population, due to low energy availability, not having enough calories to support energy demands.

At NetGain Nutrition, we will better equip coaches in understanding optimal nutrition for health and performance.
